Kylian Mbappé is a 20-year old forward who plays for Paris Saint-Germain and whose latest achievement is helping the French National team win the World Cup for the second time in its history, in 2018. He is one of the best football players in the world and, by far, the priciest.

Despite the fact that he started his career with Monaco, winning multiple awards made Paris Saint-Germain eager to have him. The investment, monumental as it was, paid off several times over, as he was named Ligue 1 Player of the Year. Where did it all begin and where will it go?

Family and Football

It was somewhat natural that Mbappé would choose football as his profession. His father, Wilfred,  is a former player and a coach. He was the one who taught his son how to play before the clubs took notice of him. His mother was also a sportsperson. Fayza Lamari played Division 1 handball for several years. His two brothers are also footballers.

It was like his destiny was laid out in front of him, because Kylian Mbappé was already a skilled boy at the age of 6, and when he was 12 he went to the Clairefontaine academy. Because of his skills and his talent, the top clubs were eager to have him sign on with them. Bear in mind that he was still a child at the time. Just before he even finished high-school, Mbappé opted for Monaco.

Transfer

Our hero became the youngest first-team player in 2015. The following year, he scored his first goal for his team. Monaco knew what he was worth, so they signed him on for three years. The first hat trick was not far behind – 2016, but it was quickly overshadowed in 2017 when he scored his first hat trick in Ligue 1. It seemed that Mbappé’s performance would only get better and beyond amazing with time. 2016-17 season saw him winning the Ligue 1 title for his team.

During that same year, Paris Saint-Germain declared their interest into taking Mbappé on a loan. They realized they struck gold and wanted to have him full-time, which cost them. It was not an insignificant sum. The transfer deal was ultimately worth €180 million, making it the most expensive in history.

International Success

Mbappé is the second teenager to score in the World Cup final, the first one being Pelé, way back in 1958. Over the course of the tournament, he scored four goals, winning the FIFA World Cup Best Young Player Award. He was quoted saying that he wants to do even better things, but that he is satisfied with being the world champion.

What is left to be said of this Boy Wonder? He is also a philanthropist who is working on developing football in Africa, as a token of respect for his African parents. A great athlete, a role-model, pride and joy of his family, as well as France – there are so many things that don’t describe Kylian Mbappé Lottin to the point our respect for him demands it.
